The International Network for Post
Graduate Students in the Area of ICT4D
(IPID) is a network of postgraduate
students doing research in ICT4D. The
aim is to become an established research
network for postgraduate students in the
domain of development informatics
through inter alia continued support to
doctoral and masters students and
increased visibility at international
conferences.
IPID was established during Spring 2006
with the support from SPIDER - the
'Swedish Program for ICT in Developing
Regions'. The network has been
adminsited by the Swedish Business
School (Informatics) at the Örebro
University. The ambition was to become a
research-meeting place as well as a
social meeting place for students
interested in ICT4D. The ambition was
also to increase the existing network of
SPIDER, national as well as
international, and also to increase
collaboration among universities. With
its around 600 registered members representing over 280
universities/reserach organizations from around 60 countries so
far, the interest for the network has been met beyond all
expectations.
