ICT4D Consortium environment
From IPID
The ICT4D Consortium environment (http://ict4dconsortium.rhul.ac.uk) is a social networking platform developed by the ICT4D Collective at Royal Holloway as part of an Edulink-funded initiative in partnership with universities in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Senegal, Ghana, Finland and Denmark. The objective of the environment is to foster online collaboration and research in ICT4D between European and African institutions, with a focus on content development and Open Educational Resources. The platform allows users to share all sorts of media: text, audio, video, pictures, presentations, as well as bookmarks and forum discussions. Users interact through interest groups, in a way familiar to users of commercial social networking platforms, but with much higher flexibility in terms of file sharing and design. We have recently opened a group on the environment to help the IPID Postgraduate community to share resources and facilitate further the interaction between members. Feel free to join online at: http://ict4dconsortium.rhul.ac.uk The environment is based on the free and open source platform Elgg (http://elgg.org). When you apply, you will need to have your registration confirmed, and then you will be able to use the environment.
